Gibson's first commercially successful electric bass model, the EB-0, was introduced in 1959. In early 1961 the EB-0's body was changed from the older Les Paul Jr shape to the new SG style along with many other solidbody models. This example dates from the middle of 1961 and is among the earliest we've encountered to feature the SG body.

This Gibson EB-0 was made in the USA in 1961. This is the first version slab bodied model - very similar to a LP Junior style. This bass shows play wear but no structural damage. It is all original. It has been pro-setup in our store and is in excellent playing condition. It weighs 8 lbs 11 oz and comes with a non original hard case.

The EB-3. The Gibson EB-3 was brought into production in 1961, along with the introduction of the SG-style body. It's pretty much the same as an EB-0, with the addition of a mini humbucker in the bridge position (along with the accompanying volume and tone knobs), plus a rotary tone knob (similar to a Varitone).

The Gibson EB-0 is a bass guitar that was introduced by Gibson in 1959. When production ceased in 1979, a total of 20,844 instruments had been built.. Ronnie James Dio of Dio, Elf, Black Sabbath and Rainbow played a red 1961 EB-0 bass, which he used to record on several albums by Elf in the early 1970's.
